The "Witch Hunt" Files

In the United States the 1960-70s CE generally represented a period of flourishing liberalism and freedom in personal affairs. It was in this political and social milieu that the Church of Satan proclaimed the birth of the Age of Satan and the Temple of Set emerged. The 1980s, however, heralded a sharp and surprising reversal of this climate as the most primitive, fundamentalist branches of Christianity gained converts and sought political power.

Employing tactics used over the centuries against freethinkers, heretics, and rival faiths, fundamentalists began to accuse "Satanism" of human & animal sacrifice, cannibalism, and the kidnapping/sexual abuse/murder of children. The hysteria thus stoked spread to several other countries, among them the United Kingdom, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and Germany.

By 1990 law enforcement personnel, journalists and other investigators realized all these terrifying claims were false. The links below document that awakening.

Today sociologists identify "Satanic Ritual Abuse" as a moral panic, comparable to medieval Europe's church-sponsored witch-hunts and pogroms on the threshold of the Renaissance. For more information on the concept of moral panic, see Folk Devils and Moral Panics by Stanley Cohen as well as Moral panics: the social construction of deviance by Erich Goode and Nachman Ben-Yehuda.

Saundhaus

Saundhaus was conceived in 1998 by Eric Kauschen as an outcropping of his work with his former company Metal Palace and personal research into the science of music as discussed by Greek philosophers Pythagoras and Nicomachus. The concept behind saundhaus is simply stated in its slogan: "The Art and Science of Music." Taking its cue from the Bauhaus movement, Saundhaus seeks to incorporate art and science along with hermetic philosophy and psychology. This bringing together of many realms of action, synthesis and remanifestation in the realm of music makes Saundhaus a unique concept.
